The Director of Public Health (DPH) has a statutory requirement, under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, to produce an annual report detailing the health of the population. The purpose of this report is to provide insight into the health of people in Swindon.
The Swindon Director of Public Health report 2024, ‘The Health Needs of Children and Young People in Swindon 2024 by the Children and Young People in Swindon’, includes audio-clips and animations and was co-produced by children and young people in partnership with local young people’s led organisation, WAY.
WAY Changemakers, a diverse group of young people aged 12-25 with a range of experiences, passions and skill-sets who seek to address the needs young people face, gathered the views of more than 160 children and young people through focus groups, creative workshops, and direct consultations.
The report outlines the thoughts and experiences of residents aged 4-24 in Swindon, focusing on their health needs and how well those needs are being met. It highlights the challenges faced by children and young people around health and wellbeing and offers recommendations to decision makers on how to improve: mental health services and support; development and education; support around living healthier lifestyles; and access to dental health services and support.
The report is available to view or download from the Director of Public Health Annual Reports page.
