Dementia Needs Assessment 2013

Dementia Needs AssessmentDementia is an important issue for people in Swindon and nationally, now and in the future. It causes damage to the brain which affects cognitive ability and, over time, day to day functioning. This JSNA on dementia helps understand what is happening now, what the risk factors are for dementia, available services, and potential future needs. It has informed the development of a multi-agency dementia strategy to drive work forward in Swindon.

It was originally agreed to review the Dementia Needs Assessment in February 2015.  The Health and Wellbeing Board decided to defer the review until February 2016 when new data on dementia will be available to enable a re-evaluation of the findings from the original assessment.  It will also enable actions in the Dementia Strategy to be carried out and their effects monitored.

Public Health England have produced a set of Dementia profiles with an accompanying interactive data tool.
